For the second time in less than a week Americans were murdered in Afghanistan, this time an American Colonel and Major. The shootings are surely related to the deadly protests over the recent burning of copies of the Koran by US soldiers. The embassy location is supposed to be one of the safest places in Kabul so if an Afghan was the perpetrator, he would have had the highest clearance. (Local media is reporting that the shooter was an Afghan policeman but that is unconfirmed.)
US personnel at Bagram Air Base inadvertently threw the Korans into a trash incinerator and that raises two questions in my mind:
1 - Why were Korans at the installation to begin with?
2 - Who made it public information that the Korans were burned?
The Taliban proudly claimed responsibility for the shootings of the Colonel and Major, saying it carried out the attack in response to the Koran burnings. So obviously, our President will feel obligated to (once again) apologize for the actions of Americans rather than demand justice for those lost at the murderous hands of the Taliban.
Forget that Afghans are burning the US Flag and effigies of Obama himself! It is so obvious whose side our President is on and it sure isn't the side our own military is fighting to protect.
Countdown begins ... 4, 3, 2 ...
